It’s jewelry week in Las Vegas. Between the handful of shows going on simultaneously, the amount of jewelry to see is quite literally overwhelming. Jewelry designers travel far and wide across the globe to Nevada’s gleaming desert oasis to showcase their latest collections to retailers looking for fresh, exciting jewels to liven up their stores’ stable of jewels.
One such international designer is Tovi Farber, who will be exhibiting at Couture this week. The Israeli-based artist’s aesthetic embraces the imperfections of mother nature’s elements; her gold jewels organically stripped of superfluous design. In a refreshingly organic way, Farber’s 18 karat gold creations experiment with the malleability and versatility of the soft metal, coaxing it into interesting shapes, sheens and textures. The result is gold jewelry close to its purest, natural form.
The rough finishes of her pieces play interchangeably with the sparkling jewels subtly set throughout them. Precious gems along with white, black and colored diamonds add a glint of glamour to Farber’s of-the-earth aesthetic. “The hand-crafted work clearly shows the connection between the simplicity of the raw material and the refinement created when working on the jewelry,” she says.
The Simply Precious collection reflects the Israeli designer’s nomadic spirit and the many places she has called home since finishing her studies in jewelry making in 1989. Living in cities in both Europe and the U.S., Farber immersed herself in the various cultures in order to draw inspiration when designing her jewelry.
She is also deeply connected with the jewelry making process, both crafting and displaying her wares in her studio located in Tel Aviv, Israel. Beautifully moved by the precious materials she works with, Farber shares that it is “the light, texture and colors [that] penetrate my being and ignite an exciting and inexplicable creative energy.” Farber’s profound love of jewelry is readily evident in the glowing works of art she crafts.
Tobi Farber will be exhibiting at Booth 1107 at the Couture Show at the Wynn Las Vegas from May 28th through June 1st.
