At Bonhams New York, beautiful rare sapphires will take center stage alongside several important diamonds at the auction house’s annual Fine Jewelry sale on December 8th. The 150-lot sale is led by a trio of extraordinary sapphires: 7.84-carat Kashmir sapphire and diamond ring by Tiffany & Co. (est. $400,000-600,000); a 29.74-carat Ceylon sapphire and diamond ring (est. $200,000-300,000); and a 5.23-carat Kashmir sapphire and diamond ring (est. $250,000-350,000).

While sapphires have stolen the spotlight in this sale, the important diamonds still shine brightly. One of the most beautifully proportioned square emerald-cut diamonds to come to auction recently, a 8.30-carat diamond ring by Harry Winston (G color and VVS2 clarity) is estimated to fetch $300,000 to $500,000. There is also a classic diamond solitaire ring set with a 5.07-carat round brilliant diamond (D color and VS2 clarity) estimated at $150,000 to $250,000. On the colored diamond side, a triangular brilliant cut Fancy gray-blue diamond of 1.00 carat is set in a sleek buckle-style ring and estimated to achieve $120,000 to $150,000.
